We certainly have come along way since 1776. There have been great advancements and new experiences above and beyond the old antiquated days of the late 1700's. Maybe we should consider a new charted for the United States, something more modern, something that fits our greater intellect something that, shall we say is a little more tolerant. . .

If we were to to discard The Declaration of Independence for something more modern something more progressive, any reasoning behind such an argument falls way short of the great froward thinking of the great men who wrote the Declaration.
There is a finality To the Great Charter. If all men are created equal, that's final. If we are endowed with inalienable rights, that's final.If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed. . . yep, that's final. No advance can be made from here. The only direction that can be made from these propositions historically is backwards towards a time when there was no equality and no rights of the individual, and no rule of the people...
