If we were to to discard The Declaration of Independence for something more modern something more progressive, any reasoning behind such an argument falls way short of the great froward thinking of the great men who wrote the Declaration.
There is a finality To the Great Charter. If all men are created equal, that's final. If we are endowed with inalienable rights, that's final.If governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed. . . yep, that's final. No advance can be made from here. The only direction that can be made from these propositions historically is backwards towards a time when there was no equality and no rights of the individual, and no rule of the people...
